Cars unlimited India

There is a huge passion for cars among all of us... I remember the time when the sweet old Maruti 800 was much sought after.... Maruti 800 was a middle class dream.. A small car for a small family of four. Slowly times changes and the good old amby(ambassador, which was a car for the top bureaucrats) and the small cute fiat were replaced by other cars.
The Zen model of maruti became a rage and you could see it everywhere. Also Hyundai small cars came into existence and took a good share of the market. However, at that time, long cars were rare of the road and only few could afford. Roads were mostly occupied by two wheelers and hatchbacks.
Post liberalisation, there was a huge change in the lifestyle of people. Big MNC lifestyle and bigger packages led to a higher purchasing power and people buying cars for luxury and style rather than need. Maruti launched its esteem model that defined luxury. In the 90's we had mercedes, Opel, ford motors and Honda come up. Toyota and Fiat were some of the others.. 2001 Skoda cars were launched here and then chevrolet also started to appear on roads.
